Former Windies off-spinner Clyde Butts dies in motor vehicle accident
GEORGETOWN, Guyana, (CMC) – Former West Indies off-spinner Clyde Butts has died following a vehicular accident in Guyana on Friday, according to news reports.
Reports are that the accident occurred near Eccles in East Bank Demerara.
Butts, 66, played seven Tests for the Windies between 1985 and 1988, taking ten wickets at an average of 59.
In 87 first-class matches, the Guyanese claimed 348 wickets at 24 apiece.
Following his playing career, Butts served as chairman of the senior West Indies selection panel.
