Reggae Boyz drawn in competitive Group B of Conmebol Copa America 2024
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz were drawn in a competitive Group B of the Conmebol Copa America 2024 at Thursday’s official draw held in Miami, Florida and will face Concacaf opposition Mexico.
There was a late switch as Jamaica were originally drawn in Group D against tough South American teams Brazil and Colombia.
Jamaica, who will be playing in the championships that are organised by Conmebol and Concacaf, will also face South American teams Ecuador and Venezuela in the first round.
Jamaica’s schedule will be against Mexico on June 22 at the NRG Stadium; against Ecuador on June 26 in Las Vegas and against Venezuela on June 30 in Austin, Texas.
The Reggae Boyz, who were drawn from Pot 4 have never scored a goal in six games played in the competition, losing all six games played.
World Champions and the last winners, Argentina, head Group A which will also include Peru, Chile and the winner of the play-off between Trinidad and Tobago and Canada.
Group C is led by the USA and will also include Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia while Brazil heads Group D that includes Colombia, Paraguay and the winners of the play-offs between Costa Rica and Honduras.
