Sweet, Sweet DARLING
First Things First…
In a historic win for Trinidad and Tobago, Aaron Moneer emerged victorious as the Season 7 winner of Mission Catwalk, the Caribbean’s premier fashion design reality TV series. This year’s grand prize includes the opportunity to showcase a collection at Paris Fashion Week 2024, a milestone moment for the competition and a first for T&T.
At the dazzling finale showdown last night, Saturday, December 2, Moneer wowed the live studio audience with his 12-piece collection, named ‘Sweet, Sweet Darling,’ and definitely impressed the judges. This resortwear line tells a story inspired by an attractive rural young lady who captures the hearts of local admirers. The narrative unfolds as one admirer wins her affection, portraying her as his sweetheart – the lady he adores, lavishing her with all she wishes.
According to Moneer, “Sweet, Sweet Darling is a masterful creation featuring handcrafted hidden elements reminiscent of traditional village homes, woodwork and latticework.”
Minutes after being declared the Season 7 winner, Moneer shared his excitement with SO2. “Winning Mission Catwalk is a dream come true, and representing Trinidad in this competition has been an incredible honour. I look forward to presenting my collection at Paris Fashion Week and I’m excited that the world will have the pleasure of seeing my work. The opportunity to export my pieces regionally is another major factor I’m very thankful for. I would also like to thank the team at Mission Catwalk; without them, none of this would be possible. Today I can proudly say I am the winner of Mission Catwalk season 7. This is a new chapter; the real work has now started and I’m ready for it!” he shared.
Moneer’s triumph not only marks a significant moment for Trinidad and Tobago but also reinforces Mission Catwalk‘s commitment to discovering and nurturing the talents of Caribbean fashion designers.
Aaron Moneer’s Sweet, Sweet Darling Collection is available as of Monday, December 4, at Locale located at 4 Holborn Road, Kingston 5.
