MVP Grassroots Training Camp closes weekend
The third and final MVP Grassroots Athletics Training Camp will be held on Saturday at the national stadium starting at 8:30 am and expected to run until 3:00 pm, the organisers announced.
Following closely behind the first two successful stagings at the Montego Bay Sports Complex on November 11 and at GC Foster Sports College last weekend, the latter despite the unstable weather that affected the island, the organisers say they are expecting another good turnout of athletes and coaches.
At last weekend’s staging where four schools in the county of Middlesex participated, St Jago High’s Roniel Burke was selected as the NCB Boy of the Camp and Hydel High’s Aaliyah Mullings was named the Best Dressed Chicken Girl of the Camp.
Other awards on the girls’ side went to Clarendon College’s Laquay Harrison who got the Puma award, Hydel High’s Jenice Dunkley who got the Digicel award, Kiara Mattis of Enid Bennett High who won an award from NCB, Tianna Brown of Alphansus Davis High who won the Powerade award and Jada Lynch of Vere Technical who won the Wata award.
On the boys’ side, three athletes from Edwin Allen High won awards: Orando Pine won the Puma award, Nicholas Williams got the Digicel award and Phillip Telemaque won the Best Dressed Chicken award. Meanwhile, Foga Road High School’s Franklyn Tayloe won the Powerade award and Cleon Sewell of Clarendon College won the Wata award.
Clarendon College’s Nigel McClymont was named the top coach.
