Education Ministry mourns death of Petersfield High students killed in crash
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Education and Youth has dispatched a trauma team and education officers to the Petersfield High School in Westmoreland, following the deaths of two students in a motor bike accident early Tuesday morning.
It is reported that the two fourth-form students, 14-year-old Akiel McIntyre and 16-year-old Ajani Robinson, from Darliston in the parish, were riding to school when they collided with a motor vehicle which subsequently caught fire.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital.

Minister of Education and Youth, Fayval Williams has since expressed deep sadness at the death of the students. Dubbing it a “tragic loss on so many levels,” the minister sent condolences to the families of the deceased.
“I pray that with the support of the ministry’s counselling team and that of the wider community, that the immediate and extended family will be able to find some comfort during this difficult time,” Williams said, underscoring the importance of adhering to the Road Code and exercising due care on the public thoroughfares.
