Excited at ‘Greatest Hits’
Dear Editor,
I am looking forward to reading Desmond Allen’s Greatest Hits: Wondrous Tales of Extraordinary Jamaicans and making it a proud addition to my ‘Jamaica section’ in my home library.
I followed most of the stories over the years and it’s good to have them all under one cover.
Congratulations to Allen on the publication.
I am now reading Balford Henry’s story on the University of Technology, Jamaica’s distinguished lecture. As expected, you made some powerful punches for the media.
I am all the way on the recommendation regarding a media watch on crime. The media has a larger and more responsible role to play in the fight against crime. Report, yes, and encourage the public to assist the police, yes, but also stop giving star roles to the criminals — they love to see their names in the media.
Can’t agree, however, with your suggestion for the media to endorse a party of their choice — whether at election time or not. We have enough divisiveness already and I don’t want to see the Jamaica Observer going orange or green. Just continue to be objective and tell it like it is either way.
And please don’t stop writing.
