Cocaine seizure in St Catherine South, man arrested
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – One man has been arrested after narcotics detectives, supported by the St Catherine South Police seized cocaine valued at US$68,000 or J$10.2 million on Friday.
Charged is 36-year-old Andrew Walcott, electrician, of Clarks Town, Manchester and West Street Cottage Complex in Old Harbour, St Catherine. Walcott has been charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, trafficking cocaine and possession of criminal property.
Reports from the police are that a Nissan Titan motor car was intercepted during the operation and two rectangular parcels containing cocaine were found along with $10,000 cash.
The vehicle, cash and the drugs were seized and the driver taken into custody. The weight of the drugs is approximately two kilograms.
Walcott’s court date is being finalised.
