Regional Director lauds staff of the Bustamante Hospital for Children
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Regional Director of the South East Regional Health Authority, Errol Greene, has lauded the staff of the Bustamante Hospital for Children for what he describes as their outstanding dedication and service under challenging circumstances.
“The resilient team at the Bustamante Hospital for Children nurtured scores of children who were taken to the hospital with anxiety issues amid the aftermath of the earthquake last Monday (October 30, and they must be commended,” Greene said.
Greene made the remarks while speaking at the 60th anniversary of the Bustamante Hospital for Children during a service at Boulevard Baptist Church on Sunday to kick off the celebration activities this month.
“Today, I laud team Bustamante Hospital for Children for having taken not only the first step but several steps in reaching this milestone, the Diamond Jubilee,” he said.
Greene pointed out that the hospital has been a place of hope, healing, and, above all, love. The team has witnessed numerous miracles and triumphs; they have dried tears and sometimes just sat in silence as they shared and bonded with families through their most challenging moments, he said.
“This anniversary is no ordinary celebration of the hospital’s past accomplishments but is a testament to the unwavering commitment and relentless dedication of our incredible healthcare professionals, support and administrative staff, volunteers, partners, and well-wishers. It is your compassion, skills, and selflessness that have made Bustamante Hospital for Children a place where miracles happen, where lives are changed, and where history is written, every single day,” he added.
The hospital was officially opened by Gladys Bustamante on November 6, 1963.
