Jamaica sixth in men’s 4x100m relay final at Pan Am Games
SANTIAGO, Chile – Jamaica’s men’s 4x100m team finished sixth in the men’s 4x100m relay final at the Pan American Games on Thursday evening.
The team of Odaine McPherson, Whyte, Andre Dacres, and Michael Sharp – in that order – clocked 39.81 seconds.
Brazil won the gold in 38.68, followed by Cuba for silver in 39.26, and Argentina took the bronze in 39.48.
The United States of America, one of the favourites for the gold, did not finish because of an injury to their anchor just a few metres from the finish line.
Jamaica’s medal count at the Games remains four, with cyclist Dahlia Palmer, discus throwers Samantha Hall and Fedrick Dacres, and wrestler Aaron Johnson all taking bronze medals.
