Happy Grove beat Tack High 4-2 in d’Cup round of 16
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Dark horses Happy Grove High rebounded from their loss to BB Coke High on Saturday to beat Tacky High 4-2 in their rescheduled ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup Round of 16 Group 2 game played at the College of Arts, Science and Education (CASE) in Passley Gardens, near Port Antonio on Thursday.
The win took Happy Grove High into a virtual dead heat with Manchester High in second place in Group 2 with both teams on identical statistics of three points each from a win and a loss, six goals scored and five allowed, behind leaders BB Coke High on six points from two wins.
Shavon Miller scored a brace for Happy Grove High as they rekindled their hopes of qualifying for the quarter-final round of the competition.
Jabari Ennis gave Happy Grove the lead in the 15th minute but Davaughnie Ellis pulled Tacky High back level in the 23rd minute. But the ‘home team’ lead 3-1 at the break with goals from Oshane Chambers in the 31st minute and Miller with his first in the 35th minute.
Giovanni McLean scored a second goal for Tacky High in the 87th minute to cut the deficit to one goal but Miller completed his brace in the 90th minute to complete the scoring.
