Sagicor hosts breast cancer awareness road tour
Sagicor Group Jamaica marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a road tour, stopping at four locations across the island each Thursday in October.
Staged under the theme ‘Inspiring Hope, Celebrating Resilience’ the tour featured a vibrant Breast Cancer Tribute Bus that embarked on a journey to selected Sagicor Bank and Sagicor Life branches in Kingston, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, and Mandeville.
As a part of the tour’s main highlight, Jamaicans got the chance to dedicate words of encouragement on the bust to loved ones who have passed or are currently battling the formidable disease.
“Fifteen persons at each of the four locations we visited had the opportunity to sign up to win a mammogram. Our awareness efforts are a testament to our belief of empowering everyone with life-saving information,” a Sagicor release quotes Sagicor Life Jamaica Wellness Manager Stacy Goodin, Wellness Manager, who added that outside of raising awareness, the initiative was an opportunity to express love to those impacted by breast cancer.
Additionally, knowledge on how to perform breast cancer self-examinations were shared via flyers during the tour.
“Early detection is a key weapon in the fight against breast cancer, and these mammograms can be life-changing for those who may not have had access to them otherwise. Sagicor is not only a financial institution but a caring partner in the communities it serves,” said Goodin.
For the entire month, the group also lit three of its buildings in New Kingston — Sagicor Bank head office at Dominica Drive, Sagicor head office at Barbados Avenue, and the Sagicor Life building at Holborn Road — in pink, as a symbol of support.
Additionally, every Friday in October was observed as Pink Day, which saw Sagicor team members wearing pink to work in solidarity while also spreading awareness with various internal activities.
