Penultimate pressure for karters
Local karters will be driving to keep their career hopes alive at the penultimate event in the Jamaica Karting Association’s championship season scheduled for this Sunday, October 29, at Palisadoes International Raceway, Kingston. Action begins at 11:00 am.
Competitors across the six classes — Comer 50, Rotax Micro Max, Rotax Mini Max, Rotax Junior, Rotax Senior, and Super Rotax — will hope to gain the points to either cement their leads or move themselves to the top of the leaderboard. At the end of season two main goals are at stake, the Abe Ziadie Trophy for the top karter for the year, and the individual class championships.
At the previous race meet, held on Sunday, October 1, the revelation that the season was winding down and championship points would be getting scarce was obvious from the intensity of the level of competition between the drivers.
In Comer 50, the first ladder of local karting, Benjamin Greene dominated from start to finish.
Kaydon Van Wyk and 2022 Abe Ziadie Trophy holder Brandon Shor had the same performances in Rotax Micro Max and Rotax Mini Max, respectively.
In Rotax Junior things weren’t so clear cut, as Luke Spencer appeared to be on course for a clean sweep when Justin Donaldson took the final reverse grid race.
Rotax Senior was another hive of activity as the three drivers — Dominic Neil Gordon, Brandon Finzi-Smith, and Zachary Lee — mixed things up a bit. Finzi-Smith emerged the top of class. Charles Fong Yee also had his winning streak in Super Rotax cut by Mark Moodie in the last race of the day.
