I be common person, but my happiness, oh, still be my own
Everybody get role, no mean say your own role passin’ my own…
-Common Person, Burna Boy
The African superstar’s voice came booming out the speakers of the Jamaica Pegasus ballroom, as attorney-at-law, Island Grill and Caribbean Flavours & Fragrances Limited Chairman Howard Mitchell on Wednesday evening danced his way to the stage for his induction into the Private Sector of Jamaica (PSOJ) Hall of Fame.
Seprod Ltd CEO Richard Pandohie, in a jocular mood, had moments before shared Mitchell’s personal and professional journey to a capacity-filled room of industry leaders, before raising a toast to the man of the hour.
“A visionary, a nationalist, a ‘just get it done’ man, a provocateur; Howard has left his mark on Jamaica’s public and private sectors, and most importantly, he has been a voice for the everyday man and woman… We salute your legacy, Sir, you have walked amongst kings and queens but never lost the common touch,” said Pandohie to thunderous applause.
Mitchell’s induction marks the 29th year of the annual affair.
