Trekkers Adventures bridging the gap in health and wellness tourism
Established to breathe new life into outdoor fitness and recreational activities, Trekkers Adventures Jamaica Limited has for the last seven years been trekking above and beyond the ordinary while it embraces the core concepts of health and wellness tourism.
The company, which prides itself as a multifaceted enclave led by a qualified and experienced team of professionals, offers a wide range of holistic activities, including camping and glamping, cultural tours, bush cooking, sightseeing, functional strength training, team building exercises, wilderness yoga, waterfall and shoreline treks, among several others, which are packaged to create a much sought-after tourism product.
Through specially curated personal and corporate programmes and other self-testing and physical activities, the entity also helps local and foreign clients to develop their physical and mental strength, doing so while they discover the mysteries, beauty, and history of the island.
“Trekkers Adventures was formed to provide an alternative to wellness enthusiasts locally and our visiting friends who are desirous of developing, improving, and maintaining their physical fitness levels whilst exploring the inner and outermost parts of our beautiful island Jamaica,” Derrymour Patrick, CEO of Trekkers Adventure told the Jamaica Observer.
“Currently our main clients include young and middle-aged professionals and retirees who are adventure seekers. However, our target market would be international backpackers, tourists that are interested in multi-day treks and wellness tourism as well as corporate groups,” he added.
Patrick, in highlighting the growth of his business, which he, along with the support of his wife and loyal customers have managed to keep afloat amid past challenges, including the COVId-19 pandemic, pointed to the take-up of products such as the cultural and bus tours and cross-country trekking as those now highest in demand.
Organising and mobilising support for a growing list of outreach projects and other social ventures such as its Functional Endurance Challenge, a community-based sporting event held in Longville Park, Clarendon, last year, and its inaugural Pink Trek event held yesterday (October 19) to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer, the company has also been building out its presence among the populace.
The company, which sees its business surpassing personal and financial expectations, said it is also now looking to partner with a lot more corporate entities as it further pushes to extend its services to attract a larger pool of clients interested in taking advantage of the perfect opportunity to blend history, adventures, and physical well-being together.
Focused on its plans to increase growth, Patrick touts 2024 as one to watch for his company. This, as it positions to up treks all over the island.
“In August 2023 we introduced sport walking to the local market, and we will be introducing two more products in 2024 — trail running and adventure racing. It is also our intention to have a functional office with full-time employees in the first quarter of next year as we also look to expand our services in the western parishes, adding accommodation booking to our growing list of services,” he stated.
Aspiring to become a local leader in the outdoor fitness and recreational adventures market, the vision of the company, its CEO further said, is to also, in the next three to five years, provide high-quality, innovative, creative, and unique competitive services for its clients while carving out its own space in a field in which products can be easily replicated.
