Our Reason is Love
Guidance counsellor Chantal Ewart and educator Dwight Davis’s love story began in 2017 at the Ministry of Education, where a chance encounter in the waiting area led to a 45-minute conversation. It was a conversation that would become part of their daily routine and forever change their lives.
The proposal came in 2023 followed by a beautiful new chapter on August 3. The ceremony took place at the Church of God of Prophecy on Nugent Street, Spanish Town, St Catherine, officiated by Minister Phillip Johnson. The rustic theme with earthy tones of brown, cream, and burnt orange set the backdrop for their heartfelt vows. The team at West Signature Events handled the déccor, ensuring every detail reflected the couple’s unique style.
The reception, a celebration of love and unity, was hosted at Arcadia Gardens in Angels, Spanish Town, St Catherine. The catering was also executed by Arcadia Gardens, and the wedding cake, a two-tiered vanilla delight with strawberry filling, was designed by Christine’s Cakery.
Shantelle Morrison, the maid of honour, played a pivotal role as the wedding planner, ensuring that every detail was executed to perfection. Helen G Bridal Boutique provided Chantal with a sweetheart neckline beaded lace gown and cathedral veil edged with lace trimmings, while Dwight looked dapper in a bespoke tailored plaid khaki suit with chestnut details.
The bridal party included Ramon Francis as best man, maid of honour Shantelle Morrison, Dwayne Davis, Shavar Smith, Jermain Livingston, and Olivette Douglas. The bridesmaids, wore asymmetrical mermaid gowns with off-the-shoulder straps, while the groomsmen donned khaki pants and vests with red bow ties to complement the bridegroom’s
The processional for the bridesmaids featured Callum Scott’s You Are My Reason whilst the bride made her entrance to Rascal Flatts’ Bless the Broken Road.
At the reception guests joined in games and dance-offs, with the evening including the cutting and blessing of the cake, the first dance of the newly-weds to Teeks’ First Time, and the traditional bouquet toss.
As they embarked on their honeymoon at the Courtleigh Hotel & Suites, Chantal and Dwight smiled in anticipation of the future filled with shared dreams, laughter, and a love that will grow stronger with each passing day.
