Silver kicks are in!
Silver has been on the fashion radar from as early as spring, but it would be remiss of us not to acknowledge the upsurge in interest for the metallic shade that took place in August and September, thanks to R&B superstar Beyoncé.
For Virgo season, the singer, who celebrated her own birthday on September 4, requested fans coming to her Renaissance concert to rock their most fab silver lewks. In an Instagram story, she wrote, “We’ll surround ourselves in a shimmering human disco ball each night. Everybody mirroring each other’s joy. Virgo season together in the house of chrome.”
The clamour for silver outfits was instant, with businesses — small and large — experiencing the collective spending power of the BeyHive. But the trend is not limited to clothes; silver shoes, particularly sneakers, are also quite the rage.
The obvious place to start is adidas and Wales Bonner’s popular partnership which arguably created the sneaker of the year: a silver Samba with an elongated tongue and crocheted three-stripe detail.
But it’s not only the Rock-blooded, British designer who’s serving up silver kicks. Barbadian mogul Rihanna and Puma are teaming up once again for the latest instalment of Fenty x Puma. The Avanti, a classic silhouette taken from the Puma archives and reimagined by Rihanna, is available in chrome!
Other brands have sneaked some shiny kicks into their product offerings as well, from sporty lines like Nike to luxury brands like Chanel and Saint Laurent.
As we embrace early-aughts nostalgia, Tuesday Style Fashion (TSF) shares a few silver sneaker releases that have caught our eye lately. That would include yours too, Valon Thorpe!
