Lady Elite1 crowned WBA Invitational League champs
FAVOURITES Lady Elite1 were crowned champions of the Western Basketball Association Female Invitational League after completing a 2-0 win over Lady Warriors, winning 33-22 in the second game of their best-of-three finals played at Montego Bay Cricket Club on Sunday.
Lady Elite1 had won the first game 37-30 a week earlier at the same venue and, despite showing up with just six players on Sunday, dominated the game, with Nejron Stephenson leading the scoring with 21 points.
They led from start to finish and were ahead 6-4 after the first quarter, increasing the margin to 10 points (18-8) at half-time and were ahead by 16 points (31-15) going into the final quarter.
Stephenson also had eight rebounds and five steals while Dandreicka Whittingham scored six points and had five rebounds.
Lacie Allen scored eight points for Lady Warriors, Monique Reid scored six points, with Breana Hawthorne and Jamelia Hines both scoring four points each.
