Irwin seek to extend winning streak in d’Cup
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Irwin High could retake the lead in Zone A of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association/Wata daCosta Cup football competition on Monday when they tackle former champions St James High in a rescheduled game at Jarrett Park.
Kick-off is set for 3:30 pm.
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was pushed back due to the passing of a teacher at St James High.
Irwin High will be defending a 13-game unbeaten run in Zone A, dating back to last season. A win this afternoon would see them join leaders Cornwall College on 10 points from four games.
Irwin High are coming off a 3-0 win over Green Pond High on Friday, while St James High played out a 2-2 result against Maldon High.
Both games between Irwin High and St James High last season were close. Irwin won the first game, but were held 0-0 by St James High in the return fixture, which snapped a four-game winning start by Irwin.
This season, Irwin have won twice, while drawing the other encounter 0-0 away to Cornwall College.
Irwin High are yet to concede a goal and have scored six in the process.
St James High have won once, lost once and drawn the other, while scoring four times and conceding as many.
