Reggae Youths seek revenge
MONTEGO BAY, St James – Reggae Youths of St James will need to avenge their first-round loss to Trelawny’s Duanvale FC if they hope to stay alive in the race for a place in the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Championships when they meet in a play-off return-round game at Duanvale this weekend.
Duanvale, who had won the first-round game 3-2, lead the standings in Group D with seven points, two more than Petersfield FC who will play Sandy Bay United with Reggae Youths on four points.
The winner of the group will advance to the semi-finals where the teams are playing for three places in the Championships (formerly Tier II) when the season starts later this year.
Reggae Youths will have to play without Chadane Blagrove on Saturday after he was sent off last Saturday’s 3-3 come-from-behind draw against Petersfield FC in Westmoreland.
Petersfield FC will also be without Andre Smith who was also sent off by the referee.
Last Saturday, Reggae Youths, who had beaten Sandy Bay 6-0 in the preview round, led 2-0 after 25 minutes before Petersfield FC rallied to tie the game at 2-2 at half-time.
The St James team retook the lead in the 50th minute but Petersfield FC rallied a second time for a draw.
Duanvale FC stayed in contention after beating Sandy Bay United 3-0 at Orchard sports complex, Oshane Brown gave them the lead in the 17th minute before Kenroy Brown doubled their lead in the 41st minute and Onandi Rowe made it 3-0 in the 63rd minute.
