Man charged following Beryllium robbery in Mandeville
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – A 25-year-old man has been slapped with several charges following last month’s brazen attack on a Beryllium Limited security team that left several people injured on Caledonia Road, Mandeville in Manchester.
He is Dorrell Watson, otherwise called ‘Stinger’ of Hamilton Street in May Pen, Clarendon.
Watson was charged with robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent, shooting with intent, possession of prohibited weapon, use of a prohibited weapon to commit a felony and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
Reports are that about 5:15 pm, three security officers were leaving the bank, when they were attacked by armed men, who opened gunfire at them.
The officers returned fire and the gunmen escaped with an undetermined sum of cash. When the shooting subsided, five persons were found with gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital to undergo treatment.

Hours later, Watson, who was driving a Toyota Wish motor car, was intercepted by the Clarendon police. The vehicle was searched and the following items found: twenty-five 9mm rounds, two 7.62mm rounds, one 5.56mm spent casing and one 9mm magazine.

He was subsequently arrested.
He is scheduled to appear in the Manchester Parish Court on Wednesday, September 13.
