Olympic defeat Hillside in domino league
Defending champions Olympic Domino Club won its second game in a row in the 2023 Winners Community Domino Summer League, defeating Hillside Strikers Domino Club 150-118.
Olympic dominated proceedings from the opening whistle at Ranny’s Place on Olympic Way recently, and despite the game being tied nine times, they never dropped a catch during the first half. Olympic led at the half-time break 76-67.
On the restart, Olympic increased the tempo and gave Hillside little opportunity of catching up. Olympic’s Peter and Police were the match’s most notable players, winning a high-game 29 points, including a six-love.
Sixey and JR were also in terrific form for the defending champions, dropping an 11-1 score in the match that let Olympic preserve their huge advantage. In the end, Olympic, which had 19 table changes, won three derby games (two-point game) and two one-a-way points, while Hillside won only one derby and failed to earn a one-a-way point. In prior encounters, Likkle Almond Tree Domino Club was awarded 150 points when their opponents Elders Corner Domino Club were a no show, which will face fines.
Temple Domino Club also remained unblemished with a 150-148 victory over Starz Domino Club. Starz lead the first half 75-62, and despite a four derby win, they managed to take their foot off the gas, allowing Temple to come back in time for the win. The match referee showed two players from the Starz side the red card for coding, adding to their woes.
