PJ Wright: Crafting immersive experiences
KNOWN as the promoter for some of Jamaica’s best parties, Peter Jason Wright has built an impressive reputation, having been in the entertainment business for over two decades. With a persona of compelling vision and unwavering passion, Wright’s foray into the entertainment realm began by organising intimate house gatherings alongside his brother, Gregory. As a result of this, his affinity for crafting immersive experiences was birthed.
Wright has developed and managed some of Kingston’s coolest dives and night spots namely Tacbar, Cru and Chillin. He has successfully hosted some of the most anticipated events, including Chillin on the Farm, Festival of Floats, Daydreams, Xodus Carnival and Dream Weekend. Having founded Dream WKND in 2009 and served since as a director of the company, Wright assumed the role of festival director for the 2023 staging of Dream WKND.
“As the festival director for Dream WKND 2023, I found profound fulfilment in envisioning and anticipating trends for our patrons post-pandemic. Our accomplishment lay in accurately gauging their needs. This year’s event showcased Jamaica as a secure, hospitable hub for world-class entertainment, setting this role distinctly apart from any previous undertaking,” shared Wright.
Dream WKND continues to dominate the Jamaican summer entertainment scene, with patrons travelling from all corners of the globe to Jamaica, immersing themselves in the Dream WKND experience. As the world officially emerged out of the pandemic, Wright knew that this staging of the event had to be remarkable.
“Our approach this year prioritised cultivating relationships within our network, rather than relying solely on mass marketing. By highlighting the exclusive VIP experience of Dream WKND 2023, we harnessed the power of direct marketing, swiftly translating into robust ticket sales for this year’s and even next year’s staging. Our early bird tickets for 2024 sold out within weeks of the recent event’s conclusion, validating the efficacy of this strategy,” he said.
Noting his extensive contribution to the entertainment industry, Wright has been privy to the needs of the sector. Though the industry has grown tremendously over the years, he notes that there are obvious gaps that need to be filled.
“Amidst the growth of Jamaica’s entertainment landscape, my ardour for the field has only intensified, and over time my involvement expanded across various facets of the industry. I’ve recently assumed a pivotal role as the CEO of Dream Solutions Limited; a subsidiary of Dream Entertainment Limited. In this capacity, my focus revolves around mobilising solutions that enhance the innovation, creativity and executions within the entertainment sector.”
Dream Solutions will seek to service the ever-growing and dynamic needs of corporate Jamaica’s events as well as bespoke boutique activations for discerning customers that need masterful execution to bring their visions to life. As someone who has dedicated his life to the events, entertainment and hospitality industries, Wright has a vision to create a viable environment for his staff and partners.
“In an ever-evolving industry, our objective is to create pathways for sustainable lifelong careers for our staff and to elevate the global perception of our island’s entertainment prowess,” Wright concluded.
