Morrison, Brown shine in Italy
Natasha Morrison and Amoi Brown were winners at Sunday’s 36th Meeting Internationale citta di Padova in Italy, taking the women’s 100m and the 100m hurdles events, respectively.
There were also podium finishes for World Championships silver medallist Tajay Gayle and sprinter Michael Campbell at the event, which was a World Athletics Continental Tour-Bronze meeting.
Morrison, who won relay silver medal at the World Championships in Budapest, won her event in 11.15 seconds (0.0m/s). She beat American relay gold medallist Twanisha Terry (11.21), with fellow Jamaican relay medallist Briana Williams placing third in 11.39 seconds.
Brown clocked 12.83 (-0.8m/s) to win the sprint hurdles event ahead of Hungary’s World University Games finalist Anna Toth (13.20). Japan’s Mako Fukube took third in 13.25.
Gayle, who won the World Championships bronze medal in Budapest, jumped 8.00m (0.7m/s) in the fourth round before passing on his last two attempts to place second.
France’s Tom Campagne jumped 8.09m (0.7m/s) in the third round, which saw him win, while Ireland’s Reece Ademola was third with 7.97m (0.6m/s).
Michael Campbell was second in the men’s 100m with 10.28 (-0.7m/s), just edged out by American Kyree King who was timed in 10.27. Canada’s Aaron Brown was third in 10.31.
