STORM VALLEY Y GETS UP IN TIME
Storm Valley produced a late surge to nip Loose Cannon to take a three-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($250,000-$200,000) race that also included six-year-olds and upwards (non-winners of three) at 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m).
With Shane Richardson in the saddle for trainer Delroy Wisdom, Storm Valley broke well, however, the nine-year-old was quickly overtaken by Loose Cannon (Javaniel Patterson), who began to open up going into the half-mile (800m) turn.
Loose Cannon turned for home with a strong lead and looked all over the winner, but Richardson kept up his work aboard Storm Valley who came storming in the final yards to get home by ¾ length.
Loose Cannon finished second, some three lengths ahead of Galway Bay (Jordan Barrett) in third place. The final time for the race was 1:12.1.
TIMETOSAYGOODBYE EASILY OBLIGES
Timetosaygoodbye, trained by Donovan Russell and ridden by Roger Hewitt, made all the running to defeat rivals over the straight going three furlongs (600m).
The eight-year-old Timetosaygoodbye easily won the five-year-old and upwards Optional Claiming ($180,000-$150,000) event by 6 lengths in a time of 36.1.
Timetosaygoodbye was out of his starting barrier in a flash, quickly assumed the lead ahead of Fiery Path (Shavon Townsend) and Estalita (Ramon Nepare). Timetosaygoodbye stayed with the field for the first half of the race before pulling away for an easy romp.
Estalita finished in second place, with Fiery Path occupying the third slot.
STOMP THE RHYTHM, BATON ROUGE WIN O&S TACK ROOM FEATURE
Stomp The Rhythm and Baton Rouge produced contrasting performances to win their respective sections of the $1.25-million O&S Tack Room Trophy feature event contested over 7 furlongs (1,400m).
Stomp The Rhythm, with Shamaree Muir riding for trainer Vincent Atkinson, came from behind runners to win Division One of the Restricted Overnight Allowance event for three-year-olds and upwards (non-winner of an Overnight Allowance race) by half-length.
The four-year-old Stomp The Rhythm got the better of Luksol (Jerome Innis) and Brinks (Omar Walker) in a time of 1:26.1.
In Division Two, five-year-old Baton Rouge, ridden by Paul Francis, made all the running to win easily by 6 lengths. The Ryan Darby trainee won ahead of Tekapunt (Phillip Parchment) and Johncrowjeff (Anthony Allen) in a time of 1:26.1.
BURNING VALOR HOLDS ON IN NIGHT PAN
Three-year-old Burning Valor, under a well-executed ride form Bebeto Harvey, held off all pursuers to win a three-year-old (non-winners of two) for locally bred horses and an imported three-year-old and upwards (maidens) travelling 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m).
Burning Valor showed good speed at the start of the race and settled into third place behind Digital Light (Youville Pinnock) and Wayne’s Princess (Reyan Lewis) down the backstretch. Burning Valor and Wayne’s Princess drew away from Digital Light going into the half-mile turn before the former took full control approaching the distance.
The Carl Anderson, bred, owned, and trained Burning Valor turned on the pressure in deep stretch and looked all over an easy winner leaving the furlong (200m) pole. Burning Valor then began to shorten in the final stages of the race but had done more than enough to hold onto a head victory at the wire.
Bella Bella (Raddesh Roman) was second and Powerofherhighness (Javaniel Patterson) finished third with a final time of 1:21.4.
