Scotia refutes reports staff being questioned over Mandeville robbery
There is no truth to the reports that Scotiabank employees are being questioned in connection with last Friday’s robbery of a Beryllium security team at the bank’s Mandeville`branch, the financial institution said on Tuesday.
“Scotiabank has noted various news reports indicating that Scotiabank staff are being questioned in connection with the attack on our security partners, Beryllium on August 25, 2023.

“Scotiabank advises that this is not true. We have not been advised by the police of any such action involving our staff and we have no reports of any of our staff being questioned in connection with the attack,” the financial institution said in a media release.
It noted that this position was also stated by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey in an interview with Nationwide Radio early Monday morning.
“We therefore request a public apology on all media outlets and a full retraction with immediate effect at the same level of prominence in all public media, i.e., primetime news, public radio news, website, newspaper, and all social media outlets,” the bank said.
“We use this opportunity to again denounce this heinous act. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to those affected including our customers, security partners and bystanders present during the time of the incident,” it added.
Scotiabank stated that its Mandeville branch was closed to the public on Monday and at 12 noon Tuesday as it provided support to its team.
“Our efforts to restore normalcy are ongoing and we regret any inconvenience caused by the disruption of normal services at our Mandeville Branch. We wish to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this difficult time,” the release stated.
