#WorldChamps2023: Fourth for Ricketts, Williams places seventh in triple jump
Jamaica’s Shanieka Ricketts and Kimberly Williams had to settle for fourth and seventh-place finishes, respectively, in the final of the women’s triple jump at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Ricketts, who is a two-time World Championships silver medallist, recorded a season’s best jump of 14.92m.
Meanwhile, two-time Commonwealth champion Williams produced a season’s best of 14.38m.
Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela had to climb from eighth place to produce a remarkable fifth-round jump of 15.08m to win her fourth successive World Championships title.
Ukraine’s Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk won silver with a season’s best mark of 15.00 while bronze went to Cuba’s Leyanis Pérez Hernandez (14.96).
