#WorldChamps2023: Distin through, Williamson out of high jump final
Two-time national champion Lamara Distin will be the only Jamaican competitor in Sunday’s final of the women’s high jump at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Distin cleared a height of 1.92m to advance to the gold medal round, finishing third in Group A qualifications.
Her compatriot and Commonwealth bronze medallist, Kimberly Williamson had to settle for 15th in Group B after failing to get over 1.89m. She equalled her season’s best jump of 1.85m.
Distin will contest the final of the event at 1:05 pm Jamaica time.
