Chris Brown on The Rock
R&B sensation Chris Brown arrived in Jamaica shortly after midnight on Tuesday ahead of his Under The Influence concert at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Clad in a green Nike sweatsuit, the entertainer touched down on Jamaican soil bearing a warm smile.
A few journalists as well as stakeholders in the event waited anxiously for him to make his way outside Norman Manley International Airport, and eventually there was satisfaction.
“Thank y’all for having me back. I appreciate y’all,” he said in greeting those who had lined up to give him the official welcome.
He, alongside other members of his team, were quickly escorted away by security personnel.
The Under The Influence concert which will culminate the BZR Weekend, August 25-27, which will also see performances from Teejay, Ding Dong, Sean Kingston, Gramps Morgan, Popeye Caution, Byron Messia, and a few surprise guests.
In the meantime, Tony Lopez — Brown’s tour manager — expressed enthusiasm about being in the island for the show.
“It feels good to be here. We are excited to be here in Jamaica,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Birthed in Miami, Florida, BZR Weekend — the Jamaican edition is being spearheaded by Solid Agency, Burke Bodley, VEW Live, LLC + PLXYBOY, and Jay Upscale.
The full list of events for the weekend will include the invitation-only Haute Monde Jamaica, Memba Dis! Ultimate Ol’ Skool Party, Rise and Toast Brunch Party, Indigo Soiree, and the Under The Influence concert.
It is expected that 45,000 patrons will be in attendance.
Chris Brown last performed in Jamaica in 2010 as one of the international acts at Reggae Sumfest. The entertainer made local headlines following his energetic set which included a cameo appearance from Elephant Man.
