#WorldChamps2023: Roshawn Clarke sets new U20 400m hurdles record in Budapest
In his first outing at the World Athletics Championships, Jamaica’s Roshawn Clarke set a new personal best, smashing the world junior record in the process to secure his spot in Wednesday’s final of the men’s 400m hurdles in Budapest, Hungary.
Clarke, who is the world junior silver medallist, ran 47.34 to qualify. His race was won by world record holder Karsten Warholm of Norway in 47.09.
His compatriot Jaheel Hyde had to settle for fourth in heat one, running a time of 48.49. At last year’s staging of the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, he made the final, setting a personal best of 48.03 in the process.
The final of the event will take place at 2:50 pm Jamaica time.
