#WorldChamps2023: Debutant Campbell punches ticket to shot put final
In his first World Championships appearance, Rajindra Campell, Jamaica’s lone representative in the men’s shot put, booked his spot in Saturday’s final of the event at the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships.
Campbell, who is the first Jamaican to surpass the 22m mark in the event, eased over the automatic qualifying target of 21.40m to record a throw of 20.83m in his third and final attempt, finishing sixth in Group A’s qualifications.
Campbell is scheduled to compete in the final at 1:37 pm Jamaica time.
