q#WorldChamps2023: Smikle and Dacres advance, Stona out of discus final
Jamaica’s Traves Smikle and Fedrick Dacres are through to the final of the men’s discus throw at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Smikle produced a mark of 65.71 to advance with the fourth furthest throw, while Dacres recorded a throw of 65.45m, the seventh-best mark of the day.
Debutant Roje Stona did not advance to the final, having finished ninth in Group A with a second-round best of 62.67m.
Both Smikle and Dacres are set to compete in the final of the event on Monday at 1:30 pm Jamaica time.
