Fake outrage?
Dear Editor,
I read a letter in the Jamaica Observer dated August 8, penned by one Beverley Buchanan, on Opposition Leader Mark Golding’s absence from the Grand Gala titled ‘What was more important than the Grand Gala, Golding?’
It seems we now live in an era of hypocrisy, wherein people seem to want to make issues out of non-issues. Golding, in his capacity as Opposition leader, has participated in most of the national events in this year’s Emancipendence celebration. I submit to Buchanan that in 2014 Andrew Holness, then Opposition leader, was absent from the Grand Gala that year.
Buchanan, Jamaica didn’t begin in 2016, the celebrations of this country have always been important and Opposition leaders have missed various functions. Before one comes with questions for Golding, one should first pose these questions to Holness.
One should remember to clean your house before trying to gin up fake outrage on others.
