THE final round of the three-round 66th Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship was a good one for Jamaica, especially the six-man male team members who all posted some low scores.
William Knibbs made two under par 70; Zandre Roye even par 72; while Justin Burrowes, Ryan Lue, Rocco Lopez and Aman Dhiman all scored three over par 75.
On the female side Mattea Issa posted the lowest score of six over par 78. The scores for the other three ladies were Emily Mayne 10 over par 82, Jodi Munn-Barrow 16 over par 88, and Anoushka Katri 24 over par 96.
Knibbs’ combined score of 222 (75, 77, 70) allowed him to make the biggest jump of the Jamaican players, from 16th to sixth place on the leader board at the end of the championship. He was the only Jamaican player to post an under par score after three rounds.
Burrowes, who was on the way to an under par score in the third round and was in third place at one point, closed it at 75 for a total score of 224 (75, 74, 75) to be tied for seventh place with Diego Saavedra of Puerto Rico.
Three Jamaicans were tied on 226 in 10th place with two other players. The Jamaicans are Zandre Roye (75, 79, 72), Ryan Lue (75, 76, 75), and Rocco Lopex (73, 78, 75).
