Windalco invests $4.6m in summer employment programme
UC RUSAL Alumina Jamaica Ltd /Windalco has invested $4.6 million dollars in its summer employment programme which will benefit 63 students from tertiary institutions across the island.
The programme began on July 1 and will provide practical experience to students in the fields of engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial and civil), information technology, finance, human resources and procurement.
Senior Training Administrator Roselyn Porter said the summer employment programme will not just enable students to earn while they learn, but it will provide the company with an opportunity to recruit potential employees.
“Windalco’s annual summer employment provides students with real world experience that adds value to their résumés and makes them more eligible for career opportunities. Our team leaders take pride in helping to equip students with real life experience and skills that will prepare them to meet the demands of the job market and make their transition into the working world much easier,” she said.
