Perfect win
Montego Bay, St James – Lady Elite1 maintained their record of a perfect win in the Western Basketball Association’s Female Invitational League on Saturday, beating second-placed Boys and Girls Club Lady Warriors 43-35 at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.
Both teams are tied on 12 points at the top of the tables but Lady Warriors have lost two of their seven games played — both to Lady Elite1 — while Lady Thunder got their second win of the season, beating winless Golden Eagle Ravens 40-6.
Lady Elite1 trailed 7-10 after the first quarter but took a one-point 17-16 lead at the half-time break before extending the lead to six points 31-25 after the third quarter and then holding off Lady Warriors at the end.
Nejron Stephenson led Lady Elite1 with a double-double 11 points and 10 rebounds as Dandreika Whittingham scored 15 points.
Nicole Dias scored a game-high 20 points and had 13 rebounds for Lady Warriors as Dymond Fraser scored six points.
Kaydeen Thompson scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds for Lady Thunder in their big victory as they led from the start, 10-2 after the first quarter, 19-2 at half-time and 25-2 after the third quarter.
