Jamaica’s Cephas hits four goals in European club football
Despite scoring four times in KF Shkupi’s commanding 5-0 win away to Hegelmann in Thursday’s Europa Conference League Qualification match, Jamaican footballer Renaldo Cephas said the manner in which his team played brought him even greater satisfaction.
The 23-year-old forward scored in the 11th, 45+1, 56th and 62nd minutes, while Brazilian player Queven notched Shkupi’s other goal against the Lithuanian club inside the Darius and Girėnas Stadium.
“I’m pleased with my performance and that I got four goals. But more importantly, I’m really happy with the fact that we won the match in such a convincing manner and that the team performed well,” Cephas said after the match.
“Now, we are already focusing on the next leg, because nothing can be taken for granted,” he added in reference to the return leg of the first round which is slated for Thursday, July 20.
Cephas has been a hit at North Macedonia club champions Shkupi since making the switch from Jamaica Premier League outfit Arnett Gardens FC the summer of 2022.
A blisteringly quick player with an eye for goal, Cephas was a standout for Charlie Smith High in Jamaican schoolboy football.
He made a successful transition to Jamaica’s top-tier club league with impressive performances for Arnett Gardens before moving to Europe.
Cephas has scored 16 times in 37 competitive appearances for KF Shkupi.
