Farewell to a titan — Lois Lake-Sherwood
Jamaicans from all walks of life turned out at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St Andrew on Friday to say farewell to business titan, artist, and philanthropist Lois Lake-Sherwood.
Remembered fondly for her efforts in fostering arts and culture in Jamaica, Lake-Sherwood was also hailed for her business acumen which saw her opening the franchise of international fast food giant Burger King in Jamaica
At the time of her death she was chairperson emeritus of Restaurant Associates Ltd, the franchisee of Burger King, Popeyes, Little Caesars and Krispy Kreme.
“Lois has been a trailblazer who has defied the ordinary and never countenanced the word impossible, and through it all the family has always been central to her,” said her family in a printed tribute on Friday.
She was 91 at the time of her death.
Photo Editor Joseph Wellington was on hand to capture scenes from the funeral.
