Westmoreland Curry Fest all-day/night fun
Curiosity lingered on the taste buds of patrons as they trickled into the venue of the 23-year-old Westmoreland Curry Festival hosted by the Manning’s School.
Attendees of the Bigga-sponsored day-and-night event moved among the food booths to sample the many culinary offerings of the curried variety.
The festival hosted local chefs from Suzzette’s Kitchen, Singh’s Catering, Season To Di Bone, Great Piare and Niche’s Kitchen. The ‘curry cooks’ showed up and showed out with dishes including the beloved curried crab, curry-pineapple chicken, curried pork, curried eggplant, and curried rabbit.
Celebrity guest chef Rameish Desouza of Rameish Kitchen and social media fame was also in attendance.
Patrons lined up with as the widely known Instagram chef prepared samples of his signature blue rice, plated with curried fish and his famed curried banana skin and festival.
The Kingston-based chef got rave reviews.
During the day segment of the popular festival children were engaged in fun and games with Instant Photos, 360 Booth, a mechanical bull, a trackless train, bounce houses, a trampoline, a Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, rock climbing, recumbent cycling, and more. A local clown was also on location to keep the youngsters entertained as they popped on and off rides for treats such as snow cones and popcorn.
Among other activities were giveaway prizes that included a ram goat and an iPhone 14.
By nightfall a new wave of patrons arrived to enjoy the ‘second act’ of the Curry Festival — the stage show.
The entertainment kicked off with comedic duo Apache and Sarge, followed by performances from Lorain of Digicel Rising Stars, D’Jermaine, RayZ, Damion Pinnock, Anthony Able, among others.
The night would go to headliners Agent Sasco, Laa Lee, and Marcy Chin.
