KINGSTON, Jamaica – Many-time time national champion, Danniel Thomas-Dodd, wrapped up her preparation for this weekend’s Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) National Championships with a thrilling last-round win in the women’s shot put at Sunday’s Bauhaus Galan in Stockholm, Sweden.
The competition was the seventh stop on the Wanda Diamond League series with 19.04m.
Thomas-Dodd, who is ranked number four in the world with her national record of 19.77m, just edged Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands as she came from third place to snatch the victory.
The former World Championships silver medallist and Commonwealth Games champion, had thrown 18.73m and fouled her fourth and fifth round efforts before unleashing her best throw of the day in the final round.
Schilder finished with a season’s best 19.03m with Fanny Roos of Sweden in third with 18.75m, both coming in the first round.
