Article misleading, Observer
Dear Editor,
Your newspaper article on June 28, 2023, purportedly reporting my view on a matter of current public interest, is misleading.
The article derived from a meeting held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 in which I was describing the role currently played by Members of Parliament (MPs) to a group of largely foreign people representing charitable organisations. I did not offer a view on the ongoing effort to provide job descriptions for MPs.
For clarity, my strongly held view is that, though challenging, it is imperative that job descriptions be developed for MPs as a basis for holding them accountable to constituents. That position was not carried in the article, and to that extent it is misleading.
I am, therefore, requesting a clarification of my views on this very important matter of immense public interest.
