Young Reggae Boyz held 1-1 against Honduras at CAC Games
Jamaica’s Under-22 footballers were held to a 1-1 draw by Honduras in their opening match of the Central America and Caribbean Games (CAC) in San Salvador, El Salvador on Wednesday.
Ronaldo Webster netted the opening goal for the junior Reggae Boyz in the 42nd minute.
However, the Hondurans equalised in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time, courtesy of a brilliant free-kick from striker Axel Maldonado.
The Jamaicans dominated the first half and were finally rewarded when Webster, who plies his trade for Cavalier in the Jamaica Premier League, fired home a powerful left-footed shot which went like a rocket past the Honduras goalkeeper.
But, the Hondurans outplayed the Jamaicans in the second stanza and were rewarded when Maldonado netted past Jamaican custodian Asher Hutchinson.
The young Reggae Boyz will now take on Costa Rica in their second match of the tournament on Friday.
