Anthony B and Byron Messia enter Billboard R&B charts
Firebrand reggae artiste Anthony B and Byron Messia both made their debuts on separate Billboard R&B charts.
Anthony B is featured on the track Wind Me Up by prolific Christian music singer and songwriter Dante Bowe. The song enters Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart at #29.
This is Anthony B’s first entry on a Billboard R&B chart.
Not surprisingly, Byron Messia’s summer hit Talibans makes its debut on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-hop Airplay chart at #49.
Janelle Monae’s Lipstick Lover, which samples Mad Cobra’s 1992 gold-selling single Flex, inches one place up to #27 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, while on the Hot R&B Songs chart it dips from #18 to #23. It fares better on Adult R&B Airplay inching up from #9 to #8.
On the UK Singles chart, Talibans inches up from #34 to #33, while TMO (Turn Me On), a new version of Kevin Lyttle’s Turn Me On by Luude and Bru-C featuring Lyttle, backtracks from #42 to #44.
Moving now to the streaming and sales-driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers spent 180 nonconsecutive weeks in the #1 spot with Legend.
Shaggy’s Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection is firm at #2, with Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection at #3.
Stick Figure occupies #4, #5, and #6 with Wisdom, Set in Stone and World on Fire.
Greatest Hits by UB40 dips to #7, while No Love by Byron Messia is a non-mover at #8.
Backyard Sessions: Malibu Edition by Iration re-enters at #9 and Live at Red Rocks by Rebelution is firm at #10.
On regional reggae charts, Driver by Romain Virgo spends a second week at #1 on the New York Reggae chart.
To Sir with Love by Althea Hewitt (#25) and Triumphant by Nadine Sutherland (#27) are this week’s new entries.
Over in South Florida, I’m Not That Guy by Ed Robinson is still #1. Stick Together by Christopher Ellis (#22) and Dancehall History by Lt Stitchie (#24) are the new entries.
Once More by Golden Chyld is the #1 song on the Rebel Vibez Top 10 Canadian reggae chart.
