Bartlett, Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar collaborate to establish first GTRCMC in South America
Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett and Dr César Montaño Galarza, rector of the Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar, have agreed on the establishment of a Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC) in South America.
This initiative aims to enhance the region’s preparedness and response to crises and strengthen the resilience of the tourism sector.
Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar holds significant historical ties with Jamaica and Simón Bolívar’s campaign in South America. Bolívar, a prominent historical figure, wrote a letter from Jamaica in which he expressed his thoughts on the social and political situation of Spanish America at that time, as well as the influence of the Spanish Empire.
This initiative will play a crucial role in promoting collaboration, sharing best practices, and implementing strategies to ensure the resilience of the tourism industry in the face of various challenges, including crises and climate change.
