#LinkedInLove
Kevin Powell and Shaneille Bramwell met on LinkedIn. They would, like so many other users, exchange messages of optimism, congratulations, and then move on to the next. Things changed in the height of COVID, however, when Shaneille initiated a real conversation. Little by little they got to know each other.
Kevin took the bull by the horn and invited Shaneille on a date. This date, she shared with Tuesday Style Vows (TSV), was definitely the start of their happily-ever-after. “We went to Bamboo Bar & Lounge to have drinks,” she recalled. “I was a nervous wreck. I was attracted to him… his smile was warm, he was handsome and I guess you could say I was smitten.”
Kevin, on the other hand, was more relaxed and encouraged her to relax and be herself. This, he told TSV, was largely due to the fact that based on their conversations, he felt like he already knew her, so it was easy for him to be himself and not feel awkward or nervous around her. It turned out to be a short date but one that solidified the need to keep getting to know each other.
They fell in love with each other quickly as both felt a completeness and security in each other, one they had always been searching for. There was an ease in each other’s space, as well as similarities, such as their support for same football team: Chelsea. A decision was made to move in together, naturally leading to them making plans for the future. They were both aligned regarding what they wanted for their futures and found they made a great team as they held each other accountable for every goal they set for themselves. As the relationship progressed through ups and downs, they learned valuable lessons in communication, honesty and openness.
After much discussion on marriage, Kevin decided to pop the question in a novel way. The couple had purchased a vehicle and were awaiting its arrival. When word came that the car was in the showroom and ready to be picked up, Kevin thought this the perfect opportunity to propose.
On August 23, 2022, Kevin popped the question at the ATL showroom cheered on by their closest friends and family. Shaneille’s response: “Hell, yes!” amused all. Counselling with Carla Dunbar Ministries International followed as they wanted to have the tools necessary to prepare them for the lifelong commitment of marriage.
‘I Do’
On Saturday, May 20, 2023, the anniversary of the day they first crossed each other’s path, they pledged their undying love at Temple Palm Gardens in Stony Hill. Kevin and Shaneille, witnessed by just under 50 of their closest friends and family became husband and wife.
Shaneille was escorted up the aisle by her two dads, Donovan Bramwell and Fitzroy Legister, to A Thousand Years by Brooklyn Duo Quartet in an off-the-shoulder white dress with short lace sleeves, a corset embellished with lace with a lace-up closure in the back and a soft free-falling maxi skirt with a slit from Solaris Designs, while Kevin walked in with his mother wearing a navy blue blazer from Giorginni Couture, white long sleeve shirt from Signature Collection and a white pants from Alberto Cardinali. The ceremony was short and beautiful and will be remembered for a lifetime by the newly weds and their guests.
After dances by the bride and her fathers and the newly-weds, the floor was opened for family and friends to raise toasts. As the celebrations drew to a close, Mr and Mrs Powell extended their gratitude to their loved ones, acknowledging their presence in making the day truly unforgettable.
