45-y-o charged after allegedly chopping man to death
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – A 45-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal chopping of another man in Westmoreland on Friday.
Charged is Churt Fletcher of Burnt Savannah in the parish.
The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Ian Johnson, otherwise called ‘Chinie Man’, a labourer of Prospect, also in Westmoreland.
Reports are that about 12:30 am, an argument developed between the men while they were at a bar in the Stand Pipe community.
During the confrontation, Johnson allegedly used his hand to hit Fletcher in the face and Fletcher left. He later returned to the establishment with a machete, which he used to chop Johnson all over his body.
Residents rescued Johnson and captured Fletcher and alerted the police.
On their arrival, Johnson was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
