Four Jamaican football players in America to impress US college scouts
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – Four female football players selected by American based-organisation I Got Next, are now in the United States (US) in a bid to secure scholarships from tertiary institutions.
They were selected during football clinics staged in Jamaica by I Got Next last year.
The participants, who departed from the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay last week are Liha Williams, Kayesha Sibbles, Kieba Cowan and Gabrielle Bryan. They were accompanied by coaches Tashana Vincent and Cassman Williams.
The four Jamaican girls have joined 36 high level US players including U-20 Jamaica national Avery Johnson of North Carolina.
They have been displaying their talents in front of 17 college coaches at both the I Got Next college showcase and the Catawba College ID camp.
Coach Michael Johnson conceptualised the I Got Next programme. Johnson, a native of Falmouth, Trelawny, now resides in the US.
