Protestors block Melrose Hill Road in Manchester
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A section of the Old Melrose Hill main road was blocked on Thursday by residents and taxi operators in protest over the deplorable condition of a section of the road.
The protestors downed tree branches blocking vehicular traffic.
Traffic changes were made to the Melrose Hill Bypass since last May to accommodate only westbound traffic. Eastbound traffic has been diverted to the Old Melrose Hill Road.
The changes were made to facilitate work on the May Pen to Williamsfield leg of Highway 2000.
The project is expected to be completed by August.

The highway project — which will reduce travel time between Kingston, Mandeville and other points west — was originally scheduled for completion in October 2022. The last date of completion given was March 2023, before a timeline was given for January 2023.
The blockage on Old Melrose Hill Road has since been cleared.
