Roads need work
Dear Editor,
I am a very concerned citizen of this country who, like many others, has no other place to go.
Driving on the streets of Jamaica is not for the faint of heart. The lack of proper road markings, lighting, road surfaces, and the many pot holes are just a few of the things with which we must contend.
Now I may not have all the letters of the alphabet behind my name, and my educational background may not be something to write about, but, if I can see it, why can’t the politicians? Is it because the route they travel frequently is not in the same condition as ours or is it that they simply don’t care?
When money can be used to fund a programme for dentures, it goes to show how little thought is given to looking after the country. The roads in and around Kingston, St Andrew, and Portmore, which is being pushed towards parish status, need immediate attention.
There are huge pot holes all over and when trying to navigate them one runs the risk of crashing. All of Spanish Town Road needs to be resurfaced properly and the Central Village main road is quickly deteriorating.
There are roads that have been dug up which have not been repaired, and with the rain the other day, they have got worse. Some of these roads are located in areas occupied by “big” companies and housing developments. Are you telling me that they cannot pool their resources to try to make a difference, epecially since they, too, are being affected?
But as per usual, because “the big necks” are not being affected directly, it does not concern them. When will Jamaica and its people become the Government’s main concern?
