Tuscany Warriors, Petersfield seek fifth straight win in Westmoreland football league
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica— Leaders Tuscany Warriors and Petersfield FC will go after their fifth consecutive win in the Westmoreland Football Association/Victor Lowe Major League on Tuesday when they take on Sav-la-Mar United and Russia FC, respectively, in a doubleheader at Llandilo Sports Complex.
Tuscany Warriors and Petersfield FC have sailed through the competition so far and are expected to continue their winning ways today.
Tuscany Warriors have scored 20 goals and conceded just two in their first four games played, the best record in either category, and will face Sav-la-Mar United – who are ninth in the standings with just three points from one win and have conceded 10 goals.
Rushawn Graham and Zeco Stone have combined for 11 of the Tuscany Warriors’ goals scored and will lead the attack today as they go after another win.
Petersfield FC could have some competition when they face fourth-placed Russia FC who are on nine points, just three behind the leaders and will be hoping to maintain their places in the semi-final spots.
Shewayne Barton and Shawn Neil have both scored three goals each for Petersfield and they will go up against a Russia FC defence that has conceded five goals in their four games played.
On Sunday, Shewsbury FC blanked Belmont Uprising 5-0 while Royan Powell scored a hat-trick for Straths in their 3-0 win over Grange Hill in a doubleheader at Llandilo.
Dontai Miller scored a second-half double for Shewsbury FC who led 3-0 at halftime with goals from Davian Wedderburn in the seventh minute, Thorn Spence in the 30th minute and Kenroy Sitcheron in the 39th minute.
Miller scored in the 68th and 71st minutes to carry Shewsbury FC their second win and took them to six points.
Powell scored in the 34th, 48th and 59th minutes to give Straths maximum points and took them to seven points.
