We must be more proactive in protecting our girls
Dear Editor,
The recent murder of Danielle Rowe in Jamaica has sent shock waves through the country. The eight-year-old was found with her throat slashed and her body was left in a public place. This horrific crime is a reminder that our girls are not safe.
We must do more to protect our children. We need to work together to create a safer environment for them. We need to teach our children about personal safety, and we need to be vigilant in protecting them from harm.
The Government has a role to play in protecting our children. It needs to invest in programmes that will help to prevent crime and crack down on criminals who prey on children. We cannot allow this tragedy to happen again. We must do everything we can to protect our little girls.
To the Jamaican Government: We are calling on you to do more to protect our little girls. We need more police on the streets and we need more resources to be devoted to investigating crimes against children. We also need to see tougher sentences for criminals who harm children. We cannot allow our children to live in fear. We need to make Jamaica a safe place for them to grow up.
To the Jamaican people: We all have a role to play in protecting our children. We need to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police. We also need to teach our children about personal safety and how to protect themselves from harm.
Together, we can make Jamaica a safe place for our children.
We will not forget. Danielle will never be forgotten. Her death is a reminder that we must do more to protect our children. We will not rest until all our children are safe.
What can you do to help?
There are many things you can do to help protect our children. Here are a few ideas:
*Talk to your children about personal safety. Teach them about “stranger danger” and how to stay safe online.
*Be vigilant. Pay attention to your surroundings and report any suspicious activity to the police.
Get involved in your community. Volunteer your time to organisations that are working to protect children.
*Support organisations that are working to prevent child abuse and neglect. Your donation can help to make a difference.
*We all have a role to play in protecting our little girls. By working together, we can make Jamaica a safe place for them to grow up.
